Supercomputer con 2.000 cpu Opteron
Il nome di questa macchina sarà Dawning 4000A.
Un così elevato numero di processori Opteron permetterà a questo sistema di ottenere una potenza di elaborazione pari a 10 triliardi di operazioni al secondo. La dotazione complessiva di memoria dovrebbe essere pari a 2.256 Gbytes.
CHIP FIRM AMD said it will cooperate with Chinese firm Dawning to build what it claims will be the fastest supercomputer in China, as reported here last week.
The Dawning 4000A machine will use Opteron chips and run at maximum speeds of over 10 trillion operations per second. Dawning claims that the machine will be one of the most powerful supercomptuers in the world.
The machine uses over 2,000 Opteron 800 chips and memory capacity will be up to 2256GB.
Commercial users, computing centres, research institutes and others will use the Dawning 400A, AMD claimed.
The Opteron supercomputer has the backing of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the government sponsored Ministry of Information Industry, AMD said. µ
